Town of Petrolia recognizes its volunteers

Volunteers in the Town of Petrolia have been recognized for their hours of dedication to various causes and events.

The annual volunteer appreciation dinner was held Thursday evening.

Mayor Brad Loosley presented the Volunteer of the Year awards for 2022 to Larry Leckie and Terry Syer.

A third volunteer, who has not been named, will be recognized at a later date as they were not available to attend this week's dinner.

Leckie was recognized in the community partner category for his work with St. Paul’s United Church, Petrolia Community Refrigerator, and Petrolia in Bloom.

Syer was awarded under the community service category for work with the Petrolia Trails Committee, Lambton Trails Association, Petrolia Heritage Advisory Committee, Petrolia host for the Outdoor Club, and as the community pickleball coordinator.

“It is a true joy to see so many people so actively invested in the Town of Petrolia. Words do not simply describe the depth of appreciation that we have for each of you," said Loosley. "Thank you for sharing generously of your time and for being such proud community supporters.”

Each of the honourees was given a framed certificate, a glass award, and a bouquet of flowers.

Service Club members, Town Committees, and Victoria Playhouse Petrolia volunteers were also recognized at the event, among other groups.
