Police have provided more information regarding a recent incident at Sarnia City Hall where a display, set up ahead of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women March, was tampered with.
The Sarnia-Lambton Native Friendship Centre organized a demonstration on February 14 to honour murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people. Prior to the event, several red dresses were hung in front of city hall to signify and honour the lives lost.
However, those dresses were stolen at around 5:15 a.m. on February 14, prior to the march, in what Sarnia police are calling an "inexcusable act".
Officers are still trying to identify the suspect after photos were released on social media last week.
A video of the incident can be found below.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sarnia police at 519-344-8861ext. 6197 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
