Local COVID-19 death toll rises to 173

The COVID-19 death toll in Sarnia-Lambton has gone up by four to a total of 173.

Lambton Public Health released its weekly update Wednesday afternoon.

The health unit said one individual was in their 60s, one was in their 70s, and two were their 80s. One case was linked to a long-term care home.

One death was also reported last week, an individual in their 80s.

The average number of COVID-19 cases per day over the last week is at four.

There are two active outbreaks in the community, the latest was reported at Village on the St. Clair in Sarnia on February 20.

Bluewater Health reported fewer than five COVID-positive patients in hospital as of Wednesday.
