Sarnia Community Foundation announces latest funding initiatives

The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) is celebrating its 40th anniversary as the application intake continues for scholarship and grant initiatives.

The latest initiatives were launched on March 1.

The foundation is accepting applications for the Joanne Klauke-Labelle Memorial Scholarship, intended to help those pursuing a post-secondary education in performing arts or visual arts.

Scholarship applications will be accepted until April 11. Applications can be submitted online.

Meanwhile, applications for the SCF Community Impact Grants are being accepted until April 28.

Organizations with a focus in areas such as environment, child and youth, health, and community wellbeing are eligible to apply.

The grant recipient will be announced in the fall.

"We haven't set the exact date, it's generally in September, and it'll be a great celebration. It's our annual contribution but with this being our 40th anniversary, we do have some special things planned for the event," said SCF Executive Director Mike Barron.

Applications can also be submitted online, but will be found under the "grants" icon.

The foundation, which was established in 1983, doled out over $756,000 last year through grants and scholarships within Lambton County.
