Low-cost rabies clinics being held for pets

Several low-cost rabies vaccination clinics for cats and dogs will be held throughout Lambton County over the next couple of months.

Lambton Public Health said pets, over three months old, must be restrained and in good health while at one of the clinics.

The clinic is not open to animals that have been vaccinated against rabies within the past year.

“Vaccinating pets not only helps protect them from the rabies virus, but it also helps keep human populations safe,” said Supervisor of Health Protection Lori Lucas. “These low-cost clinics offer an affordable way to add an extra buffer between humans and animals.”

A list of clinic dates can be found below.

The cost to vaccinate is $30 per pet (cash only).

Rabies is a fatal, viral disease that spreads by the saliva of an infected animal.

Owners of dogs and cats are required by law to vaccinate their pets against rabies. For more information, visit LambtonPublicHealth.ca or call 519-383-8331.
