Canatara Park will be hopping on Saturday as families attend the 53rd annual Easter in the Park.
The free event, hosted by the City of Sarnia and the Seaway Kiwanis Club, will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. around the Children's Animal Farm.
Community Services Coordinator Rachel Veilleux said the main attraction, the Easter egg hunt, will begin at 10 a.m.
The egg hunt areas will be roped off into different age categories from eight and up, seven and under, and four and under and accessible needs. Veilleux said there will be ample signage but a map of the egg hunt areas can be found on the city's website.
"In addition to the egg hunt, we will have all kinds of activities including Easter egg decorating, Pysanky Easter egg painting demonstrations, train rides, food including cotton candy, hot dogs and popcorn, and even a one-man circus show performed by Circus Johnathan."
Circus Johnathan will perform from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., and from 11:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Although the Easter event at Canatara has always included a craft station, Veilleux said the decorating option is a little different this year.
"We're working with Crock A Doodle to provide ceramic eggs that attendees can paint on-site with the Crock A Doodle team," she said. "Also new this year is our egg pals paint station, which is a station where children can come and get an egg pal painted on their hand."
Veilleux said they expect to see about 1,000 kids throughout the three-hour event.
In order to expand the park space and ensure safety to attendees, the parking lot around the Animal Farm will be closed as of 6 a.m. Accessible parking and limited parking spots for attendees will be located along Cathcart Boulevard, ahead of the Seaway Kiwanis Pavilion.
Volunteers will help guide motorists, however, Veilleux said attendees are encouraged to park at the beach parking lot.
The Watford Optimist Club is also hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8 at the Centennial Park Pavilion. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. and the hunt starts at 1 p.m.
Children are asked to bring their own baskets. The age groups are five and under, six to 10, and 10 plus.
The Petrolia and District Lions 35th annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Friday, April 7 at the Greenwood Pavilion on Huggard Street. Registration begins at 11:15 a.m. and the egg hunt (for children eight and under) begins at 12:30 p.m.
Admission is free, but donations for community food banks will be accepted.
