The Sarnia Sting fell to the Guelph Storm in a 3-1 loss Friday night.
The Sting went into Game 5 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena leading the Guelph Storm 3-1 in their OHL Western Conference quarter-final.
"They've [the Storm] done a good job in clogging us up and frustrating us a little bit," said Head Coach Alan Letang. "Give them credit tonight. They played a perfect road game."
The team played well Friday night, however, Letang said the team had more to give.
“You have to put the compete in front of your skill,” said Letang. "If you put the skill first, you’re usually disappointed when you leave the rink. I think we need to get our compete up a little bit higher, win some of those 50-50 pucks, track a little bit harder, and consistently do it for 60 minutes.”
Zach Filak scored the only goal for the Sting at 9:51 in the second period.
The Sting will be heading into Game 6 on Sunday in Guelph with a 3-2 series lead. Coverage on CHOK (103.9 FM/1070 AM) begins at 1:30 p.m. with puck drop at 2 p.m.
If the Storm wins Sunday, Game 7 will be on Tuesday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
The series winner will face the Saginaw Spirit or the Flint Firebirds in the next round.
