The Sarnia Police Service said officers were called to a private residence. As a result, Cst. Chris Beauchamp was charged under the Criminal Code.
No other details were provided as the matter is now before the courts.
Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis has called for an internal investigation to be conducted.
Beauchamp has been assigned to non-operational duties.
