Sting select three GTA natives in U18 draft

The Sarnia Sting added three players through this year's OHL U18 Priority Selection.

The hockey club selected a goaltender, a winger and a centreman, all from the GTA, during Wednesday night's draft.

With the 15th overall pick, the Sting selected goaltender Nate Gillis of the Toronto Nationals U18 AAA team. The Pickering native represented the Markham Waxers at last year's OHL Cup, posting a record of 3-1 and a .877 save percentage.

In the second round, Sarnia drafted Toronto Titans winger Julian Mandarino. The Toronto native tallied nine goals and 15 assists through 34 games this season.

With their final pick, the Sting selected Aurora native Nicholas Ferrante from St. Andrew’s College. The centreman scored 30 goals and 35 assists through 43 games this season.

Sting GM Dylan Seca said he's excited to see all three players at training camp in September.
