Over 1,000 fish entered in annual Salmon Derby

A total of 1,167 fish were entered in the 47th annual Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby this year.

Anglers from across southwestern Ontario participated in the 10 day event which wrapped up on Sunday, May 7.

The Village of Point Edward will write out a cheque for $5,000 for the largest salmon. That goes to Sarnia's Keith Anderson who reeled in an 18.28 pound catch.

Over 100 individual prizes were up for grabs this year, totalling over $45,000. Awards will be handed out during a reception on Wednesday, May 17.
