As the weather warms up and outdoor activities pick up, it may be a good idea for cyclists and motorists to be aware of their surroundings and read up on the rules of the road.
Sarnia police said a cyclist was educated and warned for riding a bicycle in a crosswalk after a collision was reported on Friday, May 5.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., a 70-year-old Sarnia man behind the wheel of a pickup truck was stopped behind another vehicle at a red light, facing westbound on Michigan Avenue at Colborne Road, waiting to turn north.
Police said the driver turned right onto Michigan Avenue when a cyclist on the north sidewalk struck the passenger side of the pickup truck.
The cyclist, an 18-year-old Sarnia woman, was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
No charges were laid.
