Local residents have until the end of the week to nominate their favourite business, individual or entrepreneur for the Outstanding Business Achievement Awards.
Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce CEO Carrie McEachran was thrilled with the response so far when she spoke with Sarnia News Today on Monday.
"To date, we have over 170 nominations received," said McEachran. "So, we are hoping to get more nominations from now until 11:59 p.m. this Friday, June 30."
McEachran said there are so many deserving businesses and individuals that should be recognized.
"There are 12 different categories and there have been some new categories added within the last year or two," she said. "One being the young professional category, as well as we've changed up a few things, and we have an inclusivity award as well."
The winners' names will be announced at a gala on October 20, at the Sunbridge Hotel.
"The winners are determined by judges outside of the Sarnia-Lambton community," McEachran said. "We have reached out to regional Chambers of Commerce throughout Ontario and asked for volunteers to do [the] judging. So, that takes it out of our hands and it's into the new fresh eyes of people outside of the community."
After all of the nominations are received, the nominees will be asked to submit their entry for judging, if they meet the requirements of the category.
