Impaired driver arrested in Pinery Provincial Park

An Ottawa area man has been charged with impaired driving following a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check in Pinery Provincial Park.

Lambton OPP were set up conducting the program Sunday, July 16, at around 8:30 p.m.

Police said when the driver entered the checkpoint and spoke with the officers, it allegedly became apparent he had consumed an alcoholic beverage.

The driver provided a sample of breath into an Alcohol Screening Device (ASD), was taken into custody, and transported to a Lambton OPP detachment where two samples over the legal limit were provided.

A 51-year-old man from Nepean has been charged with Operation While Impaired - with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

OPP ask anyone who sees a driver they suspect may be impaired by alcohol or drugs to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677) on your mobile phone.
