A fundraiser held in support of St. Joseph's Hospice will see a variety of classic and exotic cars cruise into Preferred Towing this weekend.
The Sarnia Street Cruisers' Pop's Car B-Que, hosted by Rick Martens, will be held on Sunday, July 23 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 46 Indian Rd S.
The event was initially scheduled to take place on July 16 but was postponed due to poor ground conditions caused by significant rainfall.
Although this is the event's third year, it will only be the second car show aspect of the fundraiser, as funds were raised differently during the COVID-19 pandemic. Martens said they raised about $2,500 for the hospice last year.
"My mother spent her last few hours in hospice and I'm just eternally grateful to them. The work that they do here, the care that they provide, the people that work there are just very special people," he said. "Without donations like this, they wouldn't be able to operate, so it's just my way of trying to say 'thank you.'"
Martens said there will be a wide array of vehicles at the fundraiser, ranging from classic cars, pro-street cars, and modern muscle cars.
In addition to the car show, there will be raffle draws, with prizes donated by local businesses.
There will also be bids for attendees to have a professional photo taken with a "prestigious car" and then take a ride in it with the owner.
