Chamber of Commerce organizes charity comedy show

Tickets are expected to sell quickly for a charity comedy show in support of several local non-profit organizations.

The Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce is organizing a Yuk Yuk's Charity Comedy Show and Silent Auction at the Sunbridge Hotel on Thursday, August 17.

Marketing, Events, and Office Coordinator Robin Cooke said the event falls on National Nonprofit Day.

"So we wanted to do something for some of the chamber's non-profit members in our community that do so much for us," said Cooke.

Funding recipients include Sarnia Lambton's Alzheimer Society, Rebound, Women's Interval Home, Habitat for Humanity, Sexual Assault Survivors, Kidney Foundation, and Lambton Elderly Outreach.

The event features headliner Comedian Patrick Haye, alongside Laurie Elliot, and Scott Faulconbridge.

The evening will also include a three-course dinner, as well as live and silent auctions.

General admission tickets are $100 each and VIP tickets are $150 each.

Cooke said VIP ticket holders can arrive at 5 p.m. for "red carpet treatment."

"We're hoping to sell out, which would be 300 plus tickets," she said. "The deadline for the tickets is August 10 so register as soon as possible."

Cooke said the chamber has hosted comedy shows in the past but it's been "quite some time" since one was held.

"They've always been a very popular signature event for the chamber," she said.

Sarah Woodley of The Fox 99.9 and Rob Jenkins of COOL FM will be the event's emcees to keep people laughing throughout the evening.

Further details about the comedy fundraiser can be found on the chamber of commerce's website.
