Letang helps guide Canada to gold at Hlinka Gretzky Cup

Sarnia Sting Head Coach Alan Letang is golden once again.

The Sting bench boss helped guide Team Canada to a gold medal win at the recent Hlinka Gretzky U18 men's tournament in Czechia.

The Canadians defeated the host 3-2 in overtime on Saturday, as Malcolm Spence lit the lamp with just seven seconds left on the clock.

It's Letang's first gold as a head coach.

He was an assistant when Canada on the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in 2022 and at the World Junior Hockey Championship in 2020 and 2023.

As a player, he helped Canada capture gold at the 1998 Spengler Cup.

Former Sting Porter Martone was one of the tournament's stars for Team Canada.

The Mississauga Steelheads forward served as an assistant captain, and scored two goals to go along with three assists in five games.

The United States beat Finland 5-3 for bronze.
