Six arrested after Leamington human trafficking investigation

Six people have been arrested in connection to a human trafficking investigation in Leamington.

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit began the investigation in January 2023. OPP confirmed the investigation involved more than one adult female victim.

Through the investigation, several suspects were identified.

A 27-year-old from Leamington is facing charges of trafficking in persons, material benefits resulting from trafficking persons, material benefit from sexual services, procuring, and assault.

A 20-year-old from Sarnia, a 40-year-old from Leamington, and a 34-year-old from Windsor are both facing charges of trafficking in persons, material benefits resulting from trafficking persons, material benefits from sexual services, and procuring.

A 25-year-old and a 24-year-old from Leamington are facing charges of trafficking in persons, material benefits resulting from trafficking persons, material benefits from sexual services, procuring, and advertising sexual services.

All of the accused were held for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

OPP Constable Steven Duguay indicated the investigation is ongoing and police would like to speak to anyone who may be a victim or have information that could help detectives with the investigation.
