Agencies gather under one roof for annual Mental Health & Addictions Open House

More than 20 local agencies will gather in Sarnia during a Mental Health and Addictions Open House to provide residents with information about available resources.

Bluewater Health and the Sarnia-Lambton Ontario Health Team will host the drop-in event on Saturday, September 16 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Unifor 914 Union Hall on Devine Street.

Bluewater Health Integrated Director for Mental Health and Addiction Services Donna Morreau said several booths will be set up for people to speak with representatives from each of the participating organizations.

"There'll also be free Naloxone kits and training provided by Lambton Public Health," said Morreau.

She also said representatives from the newly opened Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario facility will be onsite to discuss resources such as Weir Active, which promotes healthy activities.

The annual open house started in 2018, but over the years, Morreau said the need for outreach and education has increased.

"It is very difficult to navigate - find the correct resource for your needs so we're really hoping this will help people identify where they can go for help," she said.

A free barbeque lunch and drinks will also be provided during the open house.
