Police find 'distraught' young passenger in vehicle being driven erratically

Lambton OPP has charged a 36-year-old St. Clair Township man with impaired and dangerous driving after observing a vehicle allegedly being driven erratically with a young passenger in it on Saturday.

The vehicle was first noticed on Emily Street, near St. Clair Parkway, in Mooretown at around 11 a.m.

During a traffic stop, "officers observed a young occupant within the vehicle who was also distraught with the driver's actions," police said in a news release.

Upon speaking with the driver, police said it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and taken to a Lambton OPP detachment where two samples of breath above the legal limit were provided.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Lambton OPP is encouraging anyone who sees a driver suspected of being impaired by alcohol or drugs, to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677) on your mobile phone.

Police said your call could make our roads safer for all.
