Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is celebrating a recent successful production by its theatre program, which was supported by grant funding from the province.
The organization received $41,800 through the Resilient Communities Fund from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The funding supports Rebound’s theatre program, Act II, as it recovers from impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program, operated with help from Act II alumni, had an "action-packed" summer following a three-year hiatus.
"It was difficult to close their doors in 2020 to young artists due to the pandemic regulations and restrictions. Act II was missed by both Rebound staff and the community. Thankfully, OTF provided the necessary funds to support the production’s budget allowing the agency to run their program again," read a media release from Rebound.
Act II's latest production of Finding Nemo Jr. was performed at the Imperial Theatre in mid-September.
“Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is truly a source of growth and opportunity for young people in Lambton County – and will continue to be so with this critical funding for important youth development programming,” said Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey in a statement.
Rebound currently operates 18 programs within the community for youth between the ages of eight and 24.
