Time to get 'creative' - grant program accepting applications

Those who are planning arts, culture, and heritage projects within Lambton may be able to receive a funding boost through the 2024 Creative County Grant Program.

The application intake started at 9 a.m. on October 2, and will end on November 14 at 4 p.m.

Cultural Services General Manager Andrew Meyer said the fund supports a broad range of activities and initiatives within the community.

"The grant program is designed to fund initiatives that enhance the cultural landscape in Lambton County, supporting unique and new innovative projects that strengthen and build the creative community and help define the county's unique identity and proud heritage," he said.

Meyer said staff are willing to help groups during the application process.

The county has allocated $75,000 for the grant program; $10,000 is for each of the county's four quadrants and $35,000 is available for initiatives that support all areas of Lambton County.

Organizers can apply for funding to cover up to 50 per cent of project costs.

The Creative County Committee will review submitted applications during a meeting at the end of November.

"Staff are usually in a position before year end to notify the applicants of the decision," Meyer said. "That way they can plan for their programs that are taking place in 2024."

Nineteen projects were supported through the 2023 grant program.

The grant program was established in 2013, and nearly 200 local cultural initiatives have been supported since then.

Applications will only be accepted online. Further details can be found on the county's website.
