United Way campaign reaches 40%

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign is in the early innings, but continues to gain momentum.

Executive Director Dave Brown said so far they've raised $560,000, or 40 per cent of the $1.4 million target.

"We're continuing to track further ahead of last year's pace by about $10,000 to $12,000 and we're hoping that momentum will carry us," said Brown.

He said a number of employee campaigns are kicking off this week, and the LCBO point of sale fundraiser is underway until Thanksgiving Sunday.

"The 10 or 11 LCBO stores in Sarnia and Lambton County last year brought in close to $30,000," he said. "So a big thank you to those employees and all the LCBO customers."

Brown said while the campaign target is set at $1.4 million, the actual need is closer to $1.6 million.

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 17 local agencies providing over 31 programs and services.
