Sarnia council will meet in special session on Friday, to resume the October 16 meeting.
Sarnia council had heard presentations and completed discussions on five public meetings, and finished listening to a presentation from its second delegation, Greg McConkey from the Sarnia Environmental Advisory Committee, before the meeting got out of control.
Mayor Mike Bradley said he'll be seeking direction from council at the start of the meeting on how they wish to proceed.
"We've had the public, staff, and councillors express concern about the workplace, and their safety in that workplace," Bradley said. "No matter how that's addressed, it has to be addressed. Council can not proceed for the next three years without resolving those issues."
Up until the last meeting, Bradley said council had been working really well together.
"They approved a lot of things that are going to renew the community on planning, and development, and looking at all of the other issues we need in the long term as it relates to infrastructure and budgeting and all those things," he said. "So, I want to get us back on that track."
As chair of council, Bradley said he has not requested additional security in the room.
"My hope is that there will be respect for each other in the chamber, there will be respect for the public, respect for staff," he said. "That's how I'm, optimistically, going into this meeting."
The remaining agenda includes 11 correspondence topics, eight notices of motions from council members -- four of which are from councillor Dennis -- and ten items presented in routine approvals, for action or information.
The meeting starts at 10 a.m. in council chambers at Sarnia City Hall.
