A house fire on Devine Street - Nov. 30/23 (Photo courtesy of Sarnia Firefighters via Facebook)A person and their cat were able to safely escape from a house fire Thursday morning on Devine Street, near Indian Road.
Sarnia Fire Public Education Officer Mike Otis said emergency crews were called just after 6 a.m., and were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.
He said the cause was determined to be accidental in nature, and damage is estimated to be hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The roadway was closed as part of the investigation but has since reopened.
Hospitals in southwestern Ontario are feeling the effects of underfunding, according to a new report by the CCPA.
Fortunately, no children were on board the bus, but the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was charged in March with sexual assault offences.
