The jury in the trial of a Corunna man accused of killing his common-law partner nearly three years ago began deliberations Tuesday morning.
Superior Court Justice Russell Raikes began delivering the charge to the jury on Monday, after five weeks of testimony in Shawn Trowbridge's trial.
The 54-year-old has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Cheryl VanHuizen, who was found dead by Lambton OPP at a home on Riverside Drive on December 31, 2020.
Trowbridge was originally charged with second-degree murder, but the charge was upgraded to first-degree murder in November 2021.
He's been out on bail since then.
