Four co-workers at St. Clair Energy Centre in Corunna are the grand prize winners of the Bluewater Health Foundation’s Dream Home Lottery.
The winners of the 28th annual dream home lottery were announced Thursday over Facebook Live.
Executive Director Kathy Alexander said this has been the foundation's most successful lottery campaign to date.
"This is a lottery that has grown year after year in support of Bluewater Health. It is an incredible partnership between Bluewater Health Foundation and the [Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital Foundation] and together we are raising much-needed and important funds to support Bluewater Health," said Alexander.
"Over $500,000 has been raised towards Bluewater Health -- just this year -- through lottery proceeds."
The dream home, located on Orchard Avenue in Bright’s Grove, is valued at more than $1.1 million. Alexander said the group has about 24 hours to decide whether they take the house or $800,000 cash.
Sarnia's Alexandra Morrison had the winning ticket for the largest ever 50/50 draw, worth $284,370.
"She was shocked, in disbelief, and happy, and said it really made her day," said Alexander.
Since its inception, the foundation's lottery has raised over $8.5 million for Sarnia-Lambton’s community hospitals to purchase innovative medical equipment.
Proceeds from this year’s campaign helped to support the newly constructed helipad, which became operational last year.
“The dream home lottery is a huge benefit for the hospital; its success means funding for critical infrastructure and equipment needed to ensure the best standard of care for Bluewater Health’s patients,” said Bluewater Health President and CEO Paula Reaume-Zimmer. “It’s truly a win-win for everyone and we are thankful for the support of this important fundraiser.”
Several other prizes were awarded Thursday, including $5,000 cash and an Explore Ontario package valued at $7,000. All of the winning ticket numbers will be posted online.
