Visiting Knights clobber Sarnia Sting 9-2

The London Knights (27-11-1) extended their win streak to 10 games at the expense of the Sarnia Sting (15-22-2) Wednesday night.

The visiting Knights took the battle of the 402 with a 9-2 win at Progressive Auto Sales Arena, scoring five goals in the first period alone.

Sting Head Coach Alan Letang was visibly disappointed with the loss during a post game news conference.

"We got outworked, we got outcompeted, outbattled, we weren't even a fraction of what we should be," said Letang. "You can't show up in this league in the second half of the season and stick check and not compete. And our group is better than that, those young kids are better than that."

Tyson Doucette and Daylen Moses both scored for Sarnia who outshot London 40-33.

Goalie Nick Surzycia stopped 19 shots before Karsen Chartier came in to play the final 20 minutes.

"Nick is our identity," said Letang. "He sits in there night in and night out, day in and day out at practice and works his tail off. He comes to the rink as a professional and competes, is first and last to leave the ice and wants to get better. So, I owed it to him to try and rebound in the second period, and I owed it to our guys to try and play for him."

The Sarnia Sting are home to Sudbury on Friday. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. You can catch the game live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
