A Sarnia man is facing 18 criminal charges following an intimate partner violence (IPV) investigation in the city on Tuesday.
Sarnia police responded to a residence after receiving information that a woman and another person had been threatened with a sawed-off shotgun.
Police allege the accused threatened to kill the female victim, pointed the firearm at her after placing a bullet in it, and proceeded to threaten to shoot another person in the residence who tried to intervene.
The victims were able to flee and call police.
When officers arrived, the accused was allegedly found trying to hide the firearm outside.
Police said the accused was arrested without further incident and charged with uttering threats to cause death, assault with a weapon, and several other firearm and ammunition related offenses.
He was held for a bail hearing.
Police said because the incident was the result of IPV, the identity of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victims.
