Sarnia Police arrest "high-risk offender" at local motel

Sarnia police recovered an estimated $34,000 worth of drugs during the arrest of a "high risk offender" Wednesday morning.

The SPS Emergency Response Team was dispatched to a London Line motel after police were made aware that a man, wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for a breach of a house arrest that bound him to Windsor, was there.

The 31-year-old Windsor man was arrested without incident at around 9:30 a.m.

Police allege that upon his arrest, he was armed with a concealed loaded handgun and wearing body armour. Police said the suspect was also in possession of a large quantity of drugs, including suspected fentanyl, cocaine and crystal meth.

The man now faces a long list of charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of failing to comply with probation and three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
