A shelter-in-place order ended for residents in Wyoming at around 2:20 p.m. on Monday, May 13.
The notice was issued at around 11:45 a.m. for the north part of the town after a natural gas line in the area of Confederation Line and Broadway Street ruptured.
It was caused by construction near the intersection.
Those bound by the County Administration Building to the north, Ketter Way to the east, Thames Street to the south, and Centennial Street to the west were advised to shelter-in-place.
Personnel went door to door to alert residents in the immediate area and roadblocks were established to keep people out of the danger area.
Area schools were also under a shelter-in-place order.
A notice posted by the town at 2:20 p.m. said "Enbridge Gas has controlled the leak, deemed the area to be safe, and has provided the all-clear. The shelter in place has been lifted and roads are now opened. Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this incident."
Mayor Gary Atkinson commented, "staff, community volunteers and partners deserve a huge round of thanks for all their efforts to ensure the safety of local residents."
Town of Plympton-Wyoming public works staff, volunteer firefighters, Lambton OPP, and Enbridge Gas worked together to control the situation.
The municipality said Enbridge crews continue to work at the site.
Construction at the intersection began earlier this month.
