Wednesday's afternoon thunderstorms brought down several trees across the city and knocked out power to hundreds of homes and businesses.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue said over the course of two hours, firefighters responded to dozens of weather related calls including downed trees, arcing power lines and false alarms.
Bluewater Power responded to over a dozen power outages blamed on gusty winds and tree contacts.
The utility was still dealing with a handful of scattered power outages Thursday morning in the city's south end on Stuart Street, along Lakeshore near Westwood Avenue and near Coronation Lane.
The storm-related outages came after the utility spent over 12 hours making repairs to an outage in the Twin Lakes area blamed on equipment failures.
The City of Sarnia said its forestry team was busy responding to a high volume of tree calls in the wake of Wednesday’s storm.
Concerns with trees on city property can be reported through an online contact form.
For residents who are cleaning up trees on their property, the city said brush can be dropped off free of charge at Sarnia's Compost Site Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Details about requirements can be found on the city's website.
