Sarnia council briefs

Sarnia council has approved the implementation of a community bus pilot project.

The bus will operate on a scheduled one-hour round trip route and stops will be identified with a new green "Community Bus" sign.

A proposal for new playground equipment at Queen Park has been referred to 2025 budget deliberations.

Sarnia council voted to receive and file a proposal for new playground equipment and pathway improvements in the amount of $150,000.

Official plan amendments and a rezoning application have been approved to further develop a property off Confederation Street.

The south section of the property behind the McDonalds at Vanier Road has been cleared for a new office building and retail store.

City staff felt the proposed use would complement the mix of uses available to area residents and workers in the surrounding industrial operations.

The land was historically occupied by a Rona/Cashway Hardware Store for over 30 years
