Truth and Reconciliation event to honour victims and survivors

It's a day to honour Indigenous children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools.

Aamjiwnaang First Nation will recognize National Truth and Reconciliation Day with a gathering Thursday evening.

The event, which also aims to raise awareness, includes a dinner, cultural teachings, crafts and a scavenger hunt.

It's at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Pavillion from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is Monday, September 30.

It was first observed as a federal holiday in 2021, coinciding with Orange Shirt Day.

Blackburn Media will be holding a Day to Listen on Monday, joining radio stations across the country to amplify Indigenous voices.
