OLG makes latest payment to Sarnia, Point Edward

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued second quarter non-tax gaming revenue payments to communities hosting casinos across the province.

The City of Sarnia is getting $100,036 for the period from July 1 to September 30 for hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia.

Since the gaming site opened in May 1999, Sarnia has received $27,871,754.

Point Edward is getting $488,477 for the same period for hosting Starlight Casino Point Edward.

Since the waterfront casino opened in April 2000 the village has received over $53 million from the OLG.

“Land-based casinos serve as a source of good local jobs and generate important economic activity in municipalities that host gaming sites,” said Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey. “Proceeds from gaming received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG, in turn, help strengthen local infrastructure and support community programs.”
