It's a holiday tradition for Blackburn Media, the annual Home Depot Food Drive.
COOL 106.3 will broadcast live from the store Friday, December 13, collecting non-perishable food donations for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
Morning Show host Ben Maddigan said the drive-through event is from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the store on Quinn Drive.
"They will have the bins set up throughout the weekend, so if you can't make it out Friday morning you can definitely come by anytime throughout the weekend and they'll have those bins set up," said Maddigan.
On average, the Inn needs 65,000 pounds of food a month to help those in need. In past years, the food drive has collected over 10,000 pounds of food for the Inn.
Maddigan said every little bit helps.
"Obviously with this being the holiday season people need a little bit more and we're hoping to give a little bit more to help alleviate some of the pressure," he said.
Maddigan said it's his favourite day of the year.
"It's nice to be out in the community, it's nice to see the community come together," he said. "There are so many people that plan their donations for this time of year. There are so many people that hear it on the radio and go, you know what, I have the ability to help out. I know times are tough right now for everybody and every dollar counts. But for a lot of people, they have that ability to maybe just drop off a bag of groceries. That might not seem like a lot, but every little bit really does go a long way."
Earlier this month, Blackburn Media's 99.9 the Fox held its Family to Family donation drive collecting non-traditional items such as cleaning supplies and hygiene products.
