Over $50K raised locally on McHappy Day

Full bellies and smiling faces helped raise over $50,000 on McHappy Day.

A total of $52,186 was raised locally for Ronald McDonald House-SWO, surpassing last year's fundraising total.

The London house opened in 1985 with 12 bedrooms, and has since grown to 40.

McDonald's spokesperson Darlene Black commended volunteers, and hundreds of staff for their energy, passion and attention to outstanding quality, service, and cleanliness.

"They came to work ready to impress and WOW did they serve up some success," Black said. "All McDonald's locations in Sarnia, Strathroy, Petrolia were busier than ever."

Last year, local customers raised $51,329.

St. Clair Child and Youth received $38,563.40 and Ronald McDonald House Charities received $12,765.69.
