Petrolia's Pizzafest returns for 12th year

The Town of Petrolia is hoping to see a lot of hungry people this weekend as the 12th annual Pizzafest is held at Victoria Park.

The savory event will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 12 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Director of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Julie Bullock said attendees can buy a slice of pizza for $2.50 from one of six vendors.

Participating restaurants will include Domino's Pizza, Godfathers Pizza, Johnny G’s Premium Pizza, Petrolia Pizza & Subs, Pizza Hut, and Wise Guys Inc.

"We [also] have bouncy castles, we have music... Smoke Break Duo, Speed Wobble, 402 West Band, and a Windsor youth group called "Leave Those Kids Alone!" are all going to be on stage," Bullock said.

Other food options will be set up at the park, including a service club BBQ and food truck, as well as freezies and ice cream provided by Petrolia Scouting.

Admission is free. The event is sponsored by Bourque Renovations, Rick and Barb Charlebois, and Crime Stoppers.

"The event has always been popular. Last year we sold over 7,000 pizza slices and we're looking to do the same or even beat it this year," Bullock said. "We've always loved inviting all kinds of residents and visitors to town to come and see what we have to offer pizza-wise."

As a result of last year's Pizzafest, $1,824 was presented to the Petrolia Community Fund, which supports community initiatives.
