UPDATE: Oil Springs Museum hosting stargazing event

Those interested in astronomy will have to wait a little longer for a stargazing event to be held at the Oil Museum of Canada.

The free event was scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 26, in partnership with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) - Sarnia Centre.

However, the Oil Museum announced on Thursday, July 24, that the event has been cancelled due to forecasted storms in the area.

The event will be rescheduled for a later date that has yet to be determined.

Live astrophotography images will be projected onto portable screens and demonstrations will also be held to help visitors learn how to capture the stars.

Telescopes and binoculars will be provided for public use with professional assistance.

Visitors were encouraged to take lawn chairs, blankets, bug spray, and wear long sleeves and pants. Anyone with personal telescopes, binoculars, or cameras and tripods was welcome to bring them along.

No registration was required.
