Lambton OPP hand out fines for not buckling up

Lambton OPP are reminding people to buckle up.

Over the past few weeks, officers in Grand Bend in particular have seen a spike in drivers and passengers not wearing a seatbelt, resulting in a fine.

In a post to social media, police said wearing a seatbelt is the most effective way to protect yourself in a collision.

"Crashes happen fast. Seat belts keep you in place when seconds count," read the post.

Failing to wear a seatbelt can result in a fine of up to $240 and two demerit points.

Lambton OPP said officers will continue patrols and roadside checks to ensure compliance.
