Help sought to ID sexual assault suspect

Sarnia police are circulating the photo of a man being sought in connection to a sexual assault investigation involving an underage girl.

Officers are asking for public assistance to identify the male as they continue to look into an investigation which commenced on August 24, 2025.

Police said a 16-year-old victim was walking to the library in the area of Veteran's Park at mid-afternoon, when she was allegedly approached by a black male who began complimenting her.

The male is accused of grabbing the victim, pulling her in close and rubbing his genitals against her.

It's alleged the male also kissed the victim, grabbed her buttocks, breasts and fondled her.

In an updated news release, police said the victim attempted to enter the library to seek another adult for protection; however, the library was closed and she was unable to get inside. Despite this, officers said the victim managed to get away from this male.

Police said the male was driving a silver/teal Ford Fusion when he left the area.

He may also have a large scar on his left hand, near his thumb and index finger.

Anyone who can identify the individual is asked to call Det. Cst. Zach Douglas at (519) 344-8861 extension 6247.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS(8477) or online at www.p3tips.com.

*An earlier version of this story said the suspect followed the victim into the library. Sarnia police have since retracted that statement.
