Snowmobile driver facing multiple charges

A snowmobile has been seized as evidence, and its driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly trying to sled away from police.

Sarnia police said officers spotted the snowmobile travelling westbound on the sidewalk of Confederation Street, near Brock Street, and when they tried to pull it over, the operator sped up and tried to flee, running a red light in the process.

It's alleged that the snowmobile operator continued to drive erratically in an attempt to evade the police and drove into the fenced-in compound of a local business.

Officers were able to block the exit, trapping the snowmobile inside.

A 30-year-old Sarnia man is facing numerous charges, including careless driving.
