Smile cookie sales raise over $81K for The Inn of the Good Shepherd

The Inn of the Good Shepherd has accepted a cheque of over $80,000 from Tim Hortons in Sarnia.

All proceeds came from Smile Cookies purchased from April 27 to May 3.

"We are very, very grateful and lucky to be chosen as the charity for the Smile Cook campaign," said Jack Christine, executive director of The Inn of the Good Shepherd. "It's a great fundraiser for us. Let's us continue doing the work that we are doing in the community, and we are really grateful for Tim Hortons for doing this for us."

The cheque of $81,821 was presented at the Tim Hortons on Indian Road.

The funds were $167 more than what the 2025 campaign raised, making it a record-breaking year for the area and Smile Cookies.

"(The funds) go towards providing all the things we do. The food bank, the soup kitchen, all our programs, our summer program, mobile market, back-to-school kits, our shelters as well," said Christine.

The Inn serves about 2,200 people a month through the food bank and nearly 700 meals a day through its soup kitchen.

In 2025, the Inn spent an average of $11,900 per month on food costs for the food bank alone.

Recently, the Inn has had to put a cap on the number of households it serves daily due to a decrease in food donations.
