The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) has arrested two people in a major cocaine bust in the city's south end.

At around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, members of the drug unit executed a search warrant at a home on Cromwell Street.

Police seized just over 1.8 kilograms of cocaine, $35,895 in Canadian currency, and digital scales.

Robert Knowles, 38, and Ashley Purdon, 38, both of Sarnia, are charged jointly with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Knowles was held for bail and Purdon was released on an undertaking with a future court date. Police said the estimated street value of the cocaine is $186,121, assuming the drug was sold for $100 per gram.
