Summer tradition continues with Watford Cornfest

A rural municipality is hoping for an 'a-maize-ing' weekend during the 44th annual Watford Cornfest.

The Watford Youth Activity Club will serve free corn starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 7, ahead of the kids' parade at 6 p.m.

The parade will start from East Lambton Elementary School. Meanwhile, youth Games and activities will be set up at the East Lambton Community Centre (ELCC).

Cornfest committee member Mark Hamel said thanks to about 70 local sponsors, free corn on the cob will be served all weekend.

"There will be free inflatables for the kids on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and there's a vendor market inside our community complex as well," Hamel said.

Saturday's festivities will conclude with live music by Easy Mark at 8:30 p.m.

"On Sunday, we'll have a car show, touch-a-truck, and pickleball tournament," Hamel said.

The car show will be held at the ELCC parking lot from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., with music from DJ Darryl
