The deadline to submit applications for the Rotary Club of Sarnia's Community Action Grants is fast approaching.
Local groups and organizations are encouraged to apply by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 15.
The Rotary Club said it looks forward to supporting community projects, specifically those related to: maternal and child health, community economic development, peacebuilding and conflict prevention, disease prevention, basic education and literacy, environmental sustainability, and water and sanitation.
“We are pleased to support projects that have a positive impact on our citizens and community, and we look forward to continuing with the upcoming grant process,” said Club President Joe Cebulski in a statement.

The local club has doled out $209,885 over the past year. A list of those grant recipients can be found below:
- $80,000 to The Inn of the Good Shepherd for food elevator refurbishing
- $35,000 to the YMCA for a lifeguarding pilot project
- $20,000 to BGC (formerly the Boys and Girls Club) for a child support pilot program
- $15,000 to Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario
- $10,000 to Victoria Playhouse Petrolia for elevator renovations
- $10,000 to Rebound (The Hub) for infrastructure repairs
- $6,500 to Weir Active to support an accessible entrance upgrade
- $6,000 to Camp Attawandaron for equipment refurbishing
- $5,000 to Junior Achievement for its school business program
- $4,385 to Scouts Local Troop for a storage shed
- $4,000 to the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund for two defibrillators
- $4,000 to Sarnia Lambton Suicide Prevention Council
- $2,500 to Diabetes Canada to support a young person from Lambton County to attend camp
- $2,500 to Family Counselling Centre, women’s support program
- $2,500 to Tampon Tuesday initiative
- $2,000 to Royal Thunder Robotics to support its robotics team
- $500 to Mooretown Courtright School for a garden
