Applications open Thursday for the 2027 Creative County Grant program.
The program funds projects and events around the county that bring people together.
"Lambton County provides approximately $75,000 every year towards the grant, and it's divided. The county is divided into four quadrants, so each has an allotment of $10,000. Then there is one grant that is for $35,000 for a project that involves the whole county," said Creative County Committee Chair Tracy Kingston. "The grant really is to celebrate community. It's citizen-driven. Somebody has an idea, and they want to run with it, but they need a little bit of help."
The grant program invests in projects that strengthen community and enrich the quality of life of all residents.
Organizers of any event or initiative are able to apply for funding to cover up to 50 percent of project costs.
"Typically, it's a new initiative or something that's happened in the past, but there's a big change to it. There are all kinds of different organizations that are involved, creative sectors like arts, business districts, diversity, education, heritage, tourism," said Kingston. "County staff reviews all of them (applications) to weed out the ones that don't qualify, and there's usually 20 grants given out."
Applications for the Creative County Grant Program will be accepted online only starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 1.
The application period closes on Monday, November 9, at 4 p.m.
The committee approved 21 projects and more than $70,000 in funding support in 2026.
