Point Edward municipal election: All-candidates meeting set for Oct. 5

Residents of the Village of Point Edward will have an opportunity to engage directly with local political hopefuls next week, ahead of the upcoming municipal election.

The Point Edward Optimist Club will host an all candidates meeting on Monday, October 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Point Edward Community Hall.

Candidates running for the positions of mayor and council have been invited to participate and present their platforms.

Current Mayor Bev Hand is one of 11 individuals seeking one of four council positions.

Deputy Mayor Greg Grimes and councillor Paul Burgess are competing for votes to lead the municipality during the 2026-2030 term.

The meeting is designed to provide community members with a forum to hear each candidate’s vision for the village, ask questions regarding local issues, and evaluate plans for the municipality’s future.

In addition to the upcoming public meeting, municipal officials advise residents to watch their mailboxes for voter information letters.

Voters who do not receive their letter by Wednesday, October 7, are asked to contact the Point Edward municipal office at (519) 337-3021 for assistance.

Municipal elections in Ontario will be held on October 26.
