Petrolia man charged in Hwy.401 crash

Essex County OPP say a 47-year-old Petrolia man has been charged after crashing into a guardrail on Highway 401.

The single-vehicle collision was reported along the highway near Provincial Road in the Town of Tecumseh on October 7, at approximately 1:56 p.m.

OPP said, luckily, the driver was uninjured in the collision and was later charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and dangerous operation.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He has a court date scheduled for November 20 in Windsor.

Provincial police are using this as an opportunity to remind motorists to drive sober.
