A three goal first period was enough to carry Sarnia to a 4-1 win over Mississauga Sunday night.
Pavel Zacha opened the scoring 3:14 into the opening frame, finishing off a pass from Nikita Korostelev. Troy Lajeunesse and Patrick White scored 22 seconds apart to open up a 3-0 lead for the Sting.
The goal chased Mississauga's Cameron Zanussi from the net, who allowed thee goals on 10 shots. He was replaced by overage goaltender Jack Flinn, which seemed to settle the Steelheads.
Both teams were held off the score sheet until Lajeunesse notched his second of the night, a shorthanded marker 3:12 into the third period.
Nathan Bastian ruined Justin Fazio's shutout bid with just under four minutes left to play. Fazio made 26 saves to record his seventh win of the season, and fifth straight.
The 7-2-1 Sting host Kitchener Thursday night at 7:05, before travelling to Sault Ste. Marie Friday.
