Sting Cap Off Winning Weekend In Windsor

With both teams playing their third game in as many nights, the Sarnia Sting were able to blank the Spitfires 5-0 in Windsor Sunday afternoon.

Jordan Kyrou got Sarnia on the board 5:20 into the game, having his slap shot change directing off a stick and behind Michael DiPietro. Windsor's misfortunes continued later in the period, with Noah Bushnell beating DiPietro with a slapshot from just outside the blue line.  The shot redirected off the stick of Logan Stanely and eluded the Windsor netminder.

Sarnia held the Spitfires to just two shots through the opening frame.

Windsor was able to muster more shots on the Sting net in the second period, but couldn't beat Charlie Graham, who was seeking his fifth win since joining Sarnia. Jakob Chychrun added a powerplay marker in the period's final minute to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage through two periods.

Travis Konecny and Jordan Kyrou added insurance markers as Sarnia caps off a big three win weekend with a 5-0 victory, pulling them within five points of the division leading Spitfires.

Charlie Graham turned aside all 21 shots he face to record his first shutout of the season, seventh of his career.

The Sting now prepare for another busy stretch against the OHL's top three teams, hosting Kitchener Wednesday, Erie on Friday and travelling to London on Sunday.
